My second SHO image, so finding it difficult to get the colour balance right.

I can only guess, so just played around to get the most detail.

About 30x5m each S2, Ha, O3 total 7.5hrs.

Advice or thoughts most welcome.

Thanks for looking :)

Nice image although I see you have the dreaded magenta stars. If you use Pixinsight you can get rid of this by inverting the image and running SCNR then re-inverting. This should get rid of most of the magenta.

Oh wow! Very nice. I was imaging that one just last night as well.

For a quick fix you can invert the pic get rid of the green halos, reinvert and apply as a color layer with a 80% blend to get your stars less purple.

But the way to do it is to shoot a lot more Sii and Oiii then balance the background ADU to match the green Ha. You'll then get nice NB star colors.

Magenta stars aside, it's a very nice image, rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise, it resembles a yacht with a long keel navigating the cosmic seas :D

Thanks Rene.
Just learning how to process SHO, and so far it has been very tedious...

Yoh Marc! Thanks mate.
Will do as you say and gather more data.

Hi and taa Andy.
Yeh I can see a yacht better than a prawn :)

Peter,
Top of the shelf stuff
I kinda like the magenta stars, gives it a Sci Fi look
Great effort for 2nd attempt
Can’t help you with processing tips ( Startools fanatic )

Hey M, thanx dude.
Re magenta stars, I suppose it's what camp your in.
Personally I want to achieve RGB stars, one day...

Does Startools handle NB?
I guess it can...

Yep
Both OSC and true NB from mono cameras
The Compose module has manual data import or endless presets
for all Narrowband blends

Nice shot Indeed Pkay!
Was talking to Doug at Arkaroola a few days ago whilst travelling through the ranges- he made mention of you and sang your praises( I assume it was you he was you he was referring to)
Keep up the fine work.

Anth;)

Off topic, but....Arkaroola..... you didn’t happen to cross paths with John, Marie and their 2 daughters did you Anth? (Friend who’ve been up there for a week and a half)

Thanks Anth
Didn't know Doug was out there. Nice place to have a scope...
Say hi if you see him again.

Great SHO with plenty of detail and differentiation in the structures. Have you tried HSO as well?

Lovely image...stars are a little distracting though.

As for your query on Startools.....handles NB very well and I use it exclusively.
I’ve tried Pi numerous times and every time returned straight back to Startools for ease of use and quality of end product. Much more intuitive as well I believe.

Pkay,
I dare say it will be a fair while before I journey all the way out there although I wish I could have stayed longer- he was tinkering in the observatory on the only cloudy night I experienced during my time up there- always the way hey- a very knowledgeable man with plenty to say about astronomy and geology.
Cheers

PS
Jon,
I did not identify the family you mentioned although there were plenty of people around the bar that night eyes glued to the footy (Port supporters I guess).
Hope I find some up and go to get back into imaging soon.

A lovely image. If you used Starnet++ and removed the stars it would also make a wonderful expressionist artwork :)
