Looking at the specs of the philips Toucam theres not much in the way to impress.. its

- 1.2 Mega Pixel still pictures
- Ultra bright images at low light
- Flicker-free video up to 60 f.p.s.
- Built-in digital USB microphone

wouldnt i be better off buying a higher pixel rate digicam with still and video ?

it would only be a problem finding an adapter for the 1.25 or 2" EP "Hole"....

Is there something im missing ?

Froggy,
You are missing two vital specs...
Chip type CCD. Most webcams are CMOS.
Sensitivity 1 Lux. Most webcams are >5, & typically 10.

That's right the ToUcam is a more sensitive chip than a digicam and with a digicam you have a bunch of extra lens elements to contend with .
Not that afocal imaging does not get resonable results it just you will do better with the ToUcam.
