NGC 3324 Gabriela Mistral Nebula is my second image captured with my new Optolong L Extreme filter under “extreme” conditions
Sydney Bortle 8 skies
Full Moon rising
Neighbours lights blasting my backyard

6” f6 Bintel newt
EQ6-R mount
ZWOASI2600MC set to Highest Dynamic Range ( Gain 0 ) cooled to - 12C
Optolong L Extreme Filter
PHD2 guiding ( Multistar guiding ) total error 0.70 arc sec
40 x 3 minute dithered guided subs
No darks
No flats
Goto and Nav EQMOD and Ascom Stellarium
Captured with APT
Stacked in DSS
Processed in Startools OSC Linear data set

Obviously a little bit of noise to contend with that full moon directly hitting my OTA but the filter did it’s job to capture as much detail as possible with limited data
More subs would have improved things as well as some darks

Pretty happy with the outcome and just squeezed in the Gem cluster too

Comments most welcome

Nice work, Martin. Lovely dark sky, sharp stars and a lot of nebulosity. That filter is a dream, isn’t it?

amazing under such conditions eh! I could look it up Martin but am lazy :-)...where is this...is it off to the side of the Carina nebula?

Thanks Adam
The ZWO Duoband and Optolong L Extreme are excellent filters for the 2600MC but the L Extreme is my preferred option

Thanks Robert
Considering the full moon was blasting my scope, this image was a pleasing result. Unfortunately the Bi colour preset didn’t work to well on this part of Carina resulting in a dominant red across the nebula
Gabriela Mistral Nebula is located on the outer arm of the Carina Nebula towards the Gem cluster
Cheers
Martin
