Hi,
I have just bought my son (matthew) a telescope and well everything is upside down. Is there a reason for this? Help. Hope this isn't a stupid question, probably should have started here first.

G'Day Annette,
:welcome: Thanks normal,if your using the scope for the night sky you should have no problems, but if your trying to look at say a building or a person it will be upside down you need to buy a Prism I think that's what it called, and it will turn objects right side up.to be honest with you I've never used my scope for land viewing Depending on where you live, give Bintel a ring

and they will help you out,or maybe some of the others members might have other suggestions.Good luck and welcome.
Cheers

G'Day,
No worries :) I just checked Bintel's web page and here is what I saw
Bintel 45 Degree Erect Image Diagonal https://secure.attl.com.au/bintelshop/Stock/6338.jpg
Click here for larger picture (https://secure.attl.com.au/bintelshop/Stock/6338X.jpg)
$39.00
Stock code: 6338 For terrestrial observing or astronomical use when a 45° eyepiece is desired. Image appears upright and left to right correct. Fully coated prism surfaces. These diagonals require 16mm more focus in-travel than conventional star diagonals. Fits 1.25" focusers.

I don't think the erecting prism will work with that scope, they are designed for refractors scopes not reflectors.
If this is the scope you bought then it should have come with an "erecting eyepiece"

G'Day Annette,
I just checked the Telescope that you bought Matt at http://www.walterproducts.com/scisupplies/telescopes/telescope.htm and according to them you should have got the following
Model 76900
6mm, 10mm, & 25mm eyepieces
2x Barlow lens
Equatorial Mount
Moon filter
Erecting eyepiece
Accessory plate
Mounting base
so check the box it came in there should be the "Erecting"eyepiece on the other hand if you bought it second hand from a ebay seller, send them a message, they may have forgotten to put it into the box, Also if it came with a Sun filter,"DUMP IT" if you value your son's eye sight (which you would) the sun filters that come with Telescope like this are rubbish, and the sellers of such filters should be hauled up in front of a Judge, the Moon filters are safe to use.
