Missed the disappearance (moon behind trees), but got the re-appearance. Just shifted FOV on webcam and missed it there :( , but had camcorder going as back-up. No companion of course, but Antares springs into view! :D Mpeg 447kb.

Further to my first post, I rough processed each end of a 30 sec NexImage capture just after Antares had reappeared (still fuming that I just had to adjust the field at the moment of re-appearance!). The two sequences used were separated by 21 sec and show the relative movement of Antares. I noticed in jjjnettie's photo posted in the Observational forum that her Antares is the same peculiar triangular shape. Could anyone confirm that this shape is in fact influenced by the dimmer companion?

I suppose what I'm getting at is that all things being equal, perhaps the NexImage at the settings I used might have actually captured a trace of the dim companion for the few seconds before Antares emerged (if I hadn't stuffed up), and if so I might have a guide for similar occultations in the future. Never done this before!

Have also included image processed from just the first sequence.

Great work Rob!

I missed it because it was raining here..........(even though we need the rain).

Congratulations, Rob. Glad that you could share it with us. I didn't see it as it was clouded-out here.
Wouldn't mind the cloud if it HAD rained!
Cheers!

Nice capture there, you just might have got the fainter companion, it is due west of the primary and would have appeared first for a few seconds, the capture surely hints of a fainter spot to the west.

Good work

Cheers

I'm absolutely certain that you might have captured it. LOL
Wasn't it a great experience! It could become a new addiction for me.
