Another interesting galaxy which is not imaged too often but presents a really interesting looking interaction between it and NGC1531, which is the smaller galaxy slightly above the main attraction. It looks like the plain of the arms is being pulled apart by the interaction/merger.

Also of interest is the multitude of smaller galaxies in the back ground. I lost count of the small ones, they appear almost every where.

This image has about 9 hours of Ha integrated into it but there only appears to be a few small blobs of Ha detectible in one of the arms. Total integration is 36.6 hours.

A picturesque result Paul with lovely colour :thumbsup:. It's a fascinating galaxy, have always loved that bent arm that looks to have been pulled up by the smaller galaxy. At a relatively nearby 50million lightyears, so stretching some 13 arc min across, it's surprisingly bright and large on the sky, so even though it is almost edge on, some nice details have been extracted along the plain of the galaxy there, cool :thumbsup: In contrast, I'm finishing off a galaxy over three times further away, quite the opposite on offer :(
