The Lady and the Clown

The wide area of nebulosity in the centre of this field caught my eye because I reckon that it looks like a laughing clown. The Lady Gabriela Mistral Nebula (IC2599) is prominent in the scene hence we have the "The Lady and the Clown". I like the way that the Gem Cluster (NGC3293) looks like an earing that the Clown is wearing.

For this image I was trying out the QSI683 camera and my recently acquired (pre loved) FSQ106 to see how it would run. Turns out is suits quite well and comes in at and image scale of 2.1". I applied drizzle integration during processing given that the data were a little under sampled.

Thanks Marc and Mike, I am very pleased with how this turned out. I did go the extra mile with acquiring lots of subs as I knew that I would be using drizzle integration so it really helps with that. It most definitely makes a big difference with noise management as I hardly applied any noise reduction at all.

Yeah it looks good to me too, I'm talking about the field correction/star shapes, thats what was concerning you... but I'm out at the obso, on a small mobile phone, so hard to critically analyse this. To me, the image overall, looks attractive :thumbsup:

what a coincidence, I am imaging the same area tonight.

That is a great image, and the thanks for the tip regarding noise
and drizzle.

I know I cant reach such results, but its good to know
what I am hoping to achieve, using yours as a reference.

The fast Tak and expert hands have brought out super-ultra-faint nebulosity, far beyond the famous bits.

I’ve still some work to do Mike more so when running the new ASI6200 camera on the FSQ106. This image posted here was taken with the QSI683 which is a lot kinder with a smaller sensor and larger pixels. I’m back now capturing some narrowband data on NGC3372 with the ASI6200 and when that’s done I will do some more fine tuning. Generally though I’m extremely happy with the way it is coming along.

And .... it is a clear night and whilst I’m typing the FSQ is gobbling up lots of photons. Clear nights - fantastic 😁

Lovely stuff, lovely small stars, great colour and the diamonds and ruby cluster looks wonderful. :)
