Hey everyone.
I had a celestron AVX mount which never worked properly and has now stopped completely.
Was planning on replacing it with either a HEQ5 or a EQ6-R
I have a saxon Ed120 and a celestron C8 along with a orion 50mm guide scope, cameras and filter wheel.
Would the HEQ5 be able to handle this or should i go with the EQ6?
Thanks.

I used a Meade 8" SCT (which is heavier than the Celestron) on the HEQ5 pro for a while. It worked very well, no issues.

Thanks Ken,
My wallet was hoping for that response.

are you talking visual or astrophotography? Visual you would be fine. for AP I think HEQ5 a struggle and probably moreso for the saxon 120ed which would be longer and present more vibration/dampening issues.

I think Robert makes a good point. The larger (longer) refractor could be an issue. OK with the C8......

In Astrophotography the mount is everything !!!
Definitely the EQ6-R for your scope
I’ve have 2 x EQ6-R’s at two different sites for over 2 years and they are proven performers across the globe in the 20kg class
Recommended max AP payload rating is 15kg
My rigs are 9kg and 15kg respectively
Cheers
