Hello all,

I found my original snippet from the Trading Post from back when I bought my first telescope, a Vixen 60L. Posting the recent wanted ad in IIS for same has had me find a lot of very nostalgic paperwork!

I even found my hand written directions noting their tricky driveway, complete with the additional instruction of looking out for their Camira wagon!

Ahhh, back in the day, hey? ..7 digit phone numbers, no electronic means of contact or payment. Call the seller from the home phone to see if it was still available, ask dad to drive me down (from Frankston), inspection, hand over a lot of cash (back then) for a teenager, returned home a very happy kid! They were selling because the 'scope was given to them as a work bonus, an unwanted gift I guess..

Oh, and if you are wondering what's on the back of the cutting? - fish tanks!

Thanks for reading, I enjoyed sharing.

Great find! Real interesting blast from the past and how expensive second-hand telescopes were back then in Melbourne, including the plethora of Tasco 60mms, before the current dump of Made in China mass produced plastic scopes. You pick the cream of the crop at a bargain price!

Did you keep your Vixen 60L?

Ironically I picked up a Vixen custom 60l recently with the tripod.

Great scope on the moon, super suprised how well it goes.

The astro world is small..

I picked a scope which was bought from a member here..who bought it from another member here..who bought it from another forum member.

Only noticed after seeing the serial number.

My 60L is bit older..but it's a fine scope.
