Messier 1 The Crab Nebula in HOO.

"The Crab Nebula was the first astronomical object recognized as being connected to a supernova explosion.... Tracing the expansion back revealed that the nebula must have become visible on Earth about 900 years before. Historical records revealed that a new star bright enough to be seen in the daytime had been recorded in the same part of the sky by Chinese astronomers on 4 July 1054, and probably also by Japanese observers."

Skywatcher 300PDS 12" F5 Newtonian, modified NEQ6 Pro, ZWO ASI 183mm Pro, Svbony Ha and OIII 7nm filters, 206 minutes.

I'm really liking this 12", even though I've overloaded the NEQ6.

A pleasing result Kevin looking somewhat like an iridescent glow in space :) Only 3.4 hours of data as well. Nicely done.

Thanks Rodney. Summer is cloud season here so time is not on my side. I have to keep it short. Makes life with a mono camera very tricky as I find myself in situations where I can't finish the shot.

That's a corker Kevin. It's bright but people don't realise it's not that big. One for the cool wall :thumbsup::thumbsup:

It's one of the few that can be imaged with a polarized filter rotated 90 degrees each time and mapped to RGB.

That's excellent Kevin, colours look good  It's a very cool looking object, that rarely gets imaged from down here due its low altitude. I remember hitting it in my early days of CCD'ing, with my Meade 12"SCT, was really excited to see the B&W subs come down :)

That's a rare image from Oz. Wonderful sharpness and detail. Great colour. A winner.

You know, I've never seen it visually! I've tried but failed. Didn't know about the polarising filter trick. I'll have to try that next time around.

Thanks Mike. You will have to try it again sometime with the Newt.

Thanks Greg. It's still pretty high up here in Mackay, but at a cloudy time of year to image now.

Thanks Chris.
