Woot!
I'm going back to living in a small country town under dark skies!!!
My poor scopes have been so neglected (aside from a refurbishment of the electrics of one last year)
Eventually I might put up an observatory. For now I'll just be happy to have paved pads dotted around the yard.
There's an enormous great pine tree directly to the south that I have to work around, so a fixed spot is really out of the question.
I wonder if I'll be the only Astronomer in the village?

Welcome back! Which small country town will have the honour (if you don't mind me asking)?

I've bought a little workers cottage in the township of Monto, Queensland.
Houghy has been helping me a lot, guiding me through the process.
It's a nice little town.
I hope to move in by the end of March.

I see I'm still in the top 10 list of chatter boxes on the forum. LOLOLOL.
Hi Jeanette welcome back, yep your still up there even with being away for so long, nothing like a nice little town in the sticks, anything with a traffic light is to big i reckon.

Great news Jeanette  I saw the place on FB, hope you have fun with putting your touch on it. Looking at the dark sky measurements for Monto, even in the centre of town the skies are Bortle 4 and darker than where my observatory is, 10km out from the edge of Canberra, so some serious observing and imaging should be possible, good luck with it all

I’ve been pretty absent here too! Life on the farm balancing off my priorities, plus some of the more prickly characters here minimising my desire to interact...
Welcome back, and have fun getting back into it, like I will soon I hope! Bit of a waste, Bortle 1-2 skies and just too busy or tired to stay up late!

That tree though, she's enormous. Enough timber in her to build an obs. LOL
Thanks for the warm welcome back. :)

Yeah, it can get that way.
Life's too short to take it too seriously. Block the ones who suck the fun out of the hobby.
Encourage, learn, laugh. :)

MONTO!!! Seriously...that's my family's town (mostly Moonford, Bukali and Cania actually - I still have cousins in Moonford and Bukali). My father only moved from Monto earlier this year. There's plenty of us Maynards and Roths in the area (the Maynards were amongst the first settlers in the region)

:) It's a small world.
I wonder how many I'll run into.

Oh, a few :)
Look out for Arthur Maynard. Big strappy slow talkin' lad... salt of the earth, and being single his whole life and owning a massive amount of cattle and land, rather well off :P :)
