Any recommendations for 36mm Unmounted NB?

Was looking at Badaar as its mid range. Astronomik don't make an unmounted version!

Antlia make unmounted filters. I have heard good reviews about them. They seem to be around baader and astronomik quality.

Testar In Sydney sells them.

Look good but getting more on the expensive side (upwards of 1.5k) as they are 3nm.

I should point out - All 36mm filters are unmounted, there is no such thing as a mounted 36mm filter.

You can buy Astronomik via Bintel.

Ordered Optolong 36mm 2 weeks ago, DHL courier. They still haven’t posted nor have they responded to enquiries.

That's what I thought Bill but it looks like they are mounted?

Also here specify that they are mounted.

Teleskop-express has the Baaders in stock, as always.

Seems the OIII is out of stock in 36mm, any kit including one is listed even at TS as "Unknown delivery time"

I am winding up towards going Mono and considering a Baader set (As much as I would love a set of Don's or Chromas) and would buy a full LRGB-HA-OIII-SII set if they were available. If I go with Baaders I might but the LRGB-HA set and buy SII-OIII individually later on.

I have been waiting for the Baader ultra narrowband OIII to become available, I ordered it almost two years ago when they first came out. A few weeks ago I emailed Baader directly and the response was that they have no time frame as yet for these. They also indicated that they are working on transmission rates to better suit CMOS chips, with an indication to expect a price rise when they do come out.

I have the 3.5 nm Ha and SII but the 4 nm OIII is impossible to obtain and now they don't know when these will be available.

Not sure what is going on with Baaders, as TS used to sell the set of three filters as a package, that is how I bought mine.
Honestly, you Don't need the very narrow ones, in my experience the 12 and 8nm versions are great, and they cost less.

That is it for me and Optolong. I am now being told to buy direct from Testar in Aus, without even a refund from Optolong. WTF???!!!

AliExpress showed PLENTY in stock, they took my money and now being told to buy from local dealer (for more) and so far, no refund.

Tempted to get what they have in stock but its 50 Euro shipping! About $480 for two 36mm unmounted.

There really isn't any other alternative at that price point which is annoying. What to do, what to do?!

Cancelled Optolong. Bought from Testar. Now awaiting Optolong refund.

This is incorrect - the Astronomik 36mm filters ARE mounted, though not threaded.

As I just found out trying to install a genuine unmounted 36mm Optolong filter in a carousel with Astronomik 36mm LRGB...had to make a nylon spacer so the Optolong could seat as the Astronomks make the securing screws stand 1.5mm away from flush. VERY frustrating.

Hi Lewis,

When I see the name "mounted" being used, I immediately jump to the conclusion they are threaded.
Yes the Astronomiks have a black ring around the filters to stop internal reflections, but in my mind they are still unmounted.

Gerd just calls it a protective ring.

The Optolongs have blackened edges.
