I have been checking out moon rise and setting times, and realised that for those who are really keen, we could have a Kulnura session the week AFTER SPSP15, on the night of Saturday 21st April.
The 4 day moon sets at 8.12pm, meaning we could be up as late as we want!
I guess we will all be a bit clearer about how we are all feeling after SPSP, but just thought I'd throw that in as an option for consideration.

HOughy, I am extremely fortunate that my dear wife has a lot of functions / commitments too, so when I want to go observing on a Saturday night, she is normally fine with it.....but I must say she is a bit toey about me going to SPSP on Thursday.....I will have to be extra gentle with her over Easter!:P

This would be a nice little consolation outing as I'm still peeved I can't go to the SPSP.

It's extremely unlikely I'd have the brownie points for Kulnura on the 21st, after SPSP.. i'm also booked in at the NAS meeting on the 27th, so it would really be pushing my luck :)

I can say with confidence that even though I am taking both boys to SPSP (giving my lovely wife a free few days) that I will not be able to make it...
In spite of her being "family free" for a few days, SPSP still counts as "my" thing...I guess I'll just have to buy some stuff at SPSP to show her!

Do you think the Kulnura night will go ahead? I have the night off work and would love to come up. The only thing holding me back will be "wind or rain, house chores or pain" (wind or house chores won'r really stop me).

Having just spent 4 days and 3 nights at SPSP, I may just have had my fill for a while ....I'll see how I feel later in the week.
If anyone is going up, someone will need to let the owners know that you are coming.

It's unlikely i'll be there, need to re-earn some brownie points as I'll be at the NAS meet the week after.
No Kulnura for me either guys.

G'Day,
Wouldn't you just know it ;) I was seriously thinking of going up this Sat and most of you have OD at Ilford :) I got to admit it's a long journey there especially from the Central Coast and I know most of you would not have had much sleep.Anyway If anyone else is going and they can arrange for the gates to be opened or what ever else has to be done, you can count me in for Fri or Sat night, weather permitting of course.so let me know whats happening
Cheers

I cherish the thought of going on saturday night as i am working this morning and missed the new moon last night ( not to mention the back neighbours new portaflood light which shines in my yard nightly)
Can somebody tell us who the contact is at kunurra and his/her number and also is there a designated area where we can set up.
I haven't been there before but i am happy to do the contacting.
Also is there only the one entrance?
My wife and I frequent yarramolong but don't necessarily go up ?Greta or ? Spring Rd.
It's 0645 and I am off to work but I will try and check my emails/ thread during the day for any responses otherwise my mobile no is 0411438858
Thankyou and have a great day

Dear Arthur & Arthur,
Without wanting to discourage you generally, as it is private property with guard dogs, I would suggest you should wait until a time when some of the regulars are going. We want to keep in the good books of the owners, and in that regard, I would not like to alienate them by having people they have never met call them to come and use the site. Best if the people who they know make any such approaches.
Perhaps those of you keen to get together could find another site to get together near there?? I have heard from someone that there is an airfield at Mangrove Mountain that is perfect for the task.

thanks for that, will try again next month, guy that used to run paintball used to play roller hockey on the same team as my son, it has probably changed hands since then as it is a few years ago now.
OK catch you again soon.

Hi Rod,
Mark Suching might be able to provide some advice on the airstrip
as I understand that's where Mark would be flying gliders out of.
When I last checked it about 12 months ago, it was still reasonably dark,
though that whole road was spoilt with the advent of street lighting
in the last few years. Mai and I use to use the sports field a few
hundred meters down from the airstrip for Argo Navis testing. Unfortunately
the neighbouring RFS station added a large spot light that spilt over into the
area we would observe from. The Central Coast Soaring Club operate out of the
airstrip and Mark might be able to advise if they are the actual owners of the
property. Keep in mind that in comparison to, say, the Paint Ball Place,
you are just that bit closer to Sydney and even worse in the light pollution stakes,
the Central Coast, and hence the skies themselves are not as good.
Best Regards
Gary
