Nice big prom on the S/E Sun today. Image gives an idea just how huge this is. Also my "Solar Observatory" keep it all out of the Sun... including me! Managed 20 minutes of animation in fairly ordinary conditions.

I have the recent Skywatcher 102 ready to go with the Lunt wedge for some white light images.. just got to get some time and sky.

Awesome Peter,

great results.

You're seeing more sun than we are in the top end at the moment. The monsoon is very avtive here.
cheers Phil

A great record of the prominence Peter. I also like the idea of comfort in your indoor setup. Well done.

Hey Phil thanks so much!
I'm just having heaps of fun with this new found hobby of Solar.
Hope you are on the mend and you get some Sun soon.
Best

Yeah, Real Nice Prom Peter

Who'd of thought you'd turn a scope to just a 100Mil K's away instead of 100Mill LY away ;)
Good stuff & enjoying seeing your Sol captures, can only get more exciting as activity increases over next few yrs and/or more..

Do you plan on doing colour ?

Thanks very much for this Bob,

Absolutely having a ball doing the Solar imaging/animations. The whole Sun is so dynamic even wen there is not much happening on the disc. Just seeing little surge proms develop on screen and then turning the into video.

I've done some playing with colour but not overly happy with results. I really need to sit down for a few hours and understand Photoshop or Gimp for colouring.

Anyways Solar is highly recommended... but you suddenly realise just how bad the weather can be during the daytime!
