For sale is a mint condition Vixen SD81S with upgraded focuser.
This is a doublet apochromat with aperture 81mm and focal length 625mm (f/7.7). The lens is very sharp and performance is similar to Takahashi doublets. Vixen doesn't officially disclose the glass type but it is generally assumed to be FPL-53. Only selling because I acquired a TV-85 that suits me better as a crossover terrestrial/astro scope (mainly because it's slightly more compact). Optically I'd say the Vixen is a bit better (and lighter).
Optics are in perfect condition. The original focuser has been replaced with a Baader Diamond Steeltrack which is as good as any focuser I've used.
Included are the standard Vixen rings, slotted dovetail and a 2" desiccant cap.
There's a Vixen accessory plate attached to the top of the rings that I used as a carry handle. Note that I've placed a couple of plastic washers under the plate as I was concerned the bolts might be slightly too long and go through the rings and scratch the tube.
Asking $1,000 (plus shipping if required).
