This is my first try at DSO Prime Focus.

Unfortunately conditions were really bad tonight, moonlight and cloud coming and going on Orion. But I thought I would give it a try.

I set up and focused through the camera viewfinder as best I could under the conditions. I only got 3 shots in before the clouds totally closed in and this is the best one. I know it's not in focus :( SkyWatcher 8" f5 Newt on EQ5 with Dual Drives - Pentax ist DL - 50 sec ISO 800

I hope to do better next time.

That is nice David.

I really like the diffraction spikes from the bright star.

If that's your first, you've got some great stuff on the way!!!

Thanks guys for all your encouraging comments.

I've yet to get focus and alignment perfected and processing at this point seems like a nightmare. :scared:

I'm sure I will be asking a lot of questions as I progress further. :help:

Great effort there David, looks like your on your way. Did you stack in deepsky stacker?

If you havent alrady, make yourself up a hartman mask, is soo easy to focus with it.

Thanks Andrew, no stacking just a single shot.
