Another Orion - First picture

Hi all,

I have been absent for many months doing other things, but recently had the notion to actually use my collection of astro gear (that I haven't used) and learn some photoshop.

This is the first time I have tracked on my mount. Result is this first image.
Clouds rolled in so it is only x10 30 sec subs with some dark frames.

80D, ASIAIR, ASI 120mm & Guide Scope, Esprit 100, Astronomik CLS filter and AZEQ6 Mount. Stacked in DSS and edited in photoshop.

Add a few more subs and it will only get better.

It is a significant acheivment to get the mount guiding properly, congradulations!

Remember to keep a log and backup your data.

It sure feels like an achievement. Monkey off my back type of deal.

I plan on adding more data soon. I was out last night but yet to look at my subs.

Nice work Tom! I think that looks fantastic. I've just taken my first tracked shots of Orion also, but only with the kit zoom lens and no filter from 3206.... the sky is very bright here so only the brightest parts of the nebula came up :(

It's nothing like yours! I'm very impressed how well the nebula came out with that CLS filter. I thought you had to go for a narrow bandpass filter like the L-Enhance/L-extreme or something in Melbourne city skies. I'm definitely going to have to read up on filters now. :)

Thank you, the cls works well for Orion it seems, even with 60-70% moon not far away. Not so sure on other objects yet, I tried to get data on Rosette and got almost nothing at 30sec and 60 sec. Not sure why, but I will report back when I get a chance outside again.
