Ok you may or may not remember (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=18416)the first time I had some problems with the camera when I received it the first time. Well Yun took back the camera and fixed up the connections and I now have it back. I am awestruck, it is functioning 100% and in less than 3 minutes it took the cmos from 24 degrees to 7.9 degrees. really cruddy weather for the next week now, but as long as it clears sometime I will be very happy. all camera functions are working!:D

and mucking around with the setup at iso 1600 with the big lens hand held testing the functions

thanks guys I am "stoked". it is so far from what it was like when I first received it. i say that it received a big shake up on the way over the first time and as a result a connecting terminal was dodgy.

Yuns service is supurb, and he even undertook a modification that I suggested!!

I suspect it will be a bit of a drawcard at SPSP for the first viewing as an "oddball thing to do" to a camera, and "look at the loony with the weird camera" syndrome. I will be located in freakshow alley near a 20" dob, a 12" lightbridge and a few little scopes..... I need to get some results on the board so as to justify this, but then I remember the days when you had to write a essay on why you needed a PC in the workplace in the first place. Likewise I think this could be the cooled DSLR revolution!!!

I am very happy for you hOughy. I reckon it is the way to go for DSLR astrophotography. I have noticed when the nights are cold in Melbourne at about single digits centigrade the images are almost noise free.
Now you have a good talk to that nice man Scott and do a really deep exposure with Scotts Canon 300mm F2.8 Fluorite and show us all the result.

You should be able to pick up very weak nebulosity!

use your own camera, it will be heaps cheaper. I just recently bought a 400D for $1130 body only, use it for a few months up to 12 then send it over to Yun. Because it is your original camera, and you add a note saying for repair etc etc, then you dont get slugged the import fee and taxes. My upgrade cost me 1520 AUS. buying his new 400D off the shelf be prepared for import duty and taxes on nearly 3 grand.
