Good wide field work for a challenging object. A surprising amount of detail in some parts of the nebula for such a short exposure. Have to try that one with the newt maybe.

Thanks Ray, I was very surprised that 10 minute exposures under dark skies didn't bring out more details. For me 2.5 hours of 10 minute exposures is not short. I guess I will need to start building up data over multiple nights.

What do you call a long exposure?

Paul,

Lovely image of a difficult target

I’ve never had to go past 5 minute subs , 10 minute are long long ....... subs

I reckon you have plenty of data there Paul , give Startools a go and use AutoDev for first and final stretch and see if you can expose more , I think you may be surprised !

Thanks Martin. I havn't forgotten about StarTools and your instructions. You should post them in resources. I actually bought the package and it is good. At the moment I am still discovering PixInsight and may buy that as well.

Pixinsight has a new colour balancing option where it plate solves your image, then downloads a star catalog to find G2V stars and balances based on that, what software can do these days is amazing...
