Good article here (https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/147731/robinson-crusoe-island). Loved the book as a kid.

And some pretty cool cloud patterns (https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/147743/the-stability-of-von-karmans-vortices) in the wake of islands off the coast of Africa.

Very cool cloud patterns and interesting mathematical background. Going to Juan Fernandez group would be an interesting trip. Tim Severin wrote a great book about Robinson Crusoe island and the background of the “Desert Island “ type stories and their origins . Great book but the author has unfortunately just died, so no more more of those books and crossing the ocean in ancient boats.
