Only 32 minutes in 16 frames of 120s (with 10 dark frames) only third time out with the QHY183c so still learning it, framing a bit off sorry was having issues with alignment etc but PHD2 worked ok :)

Hi Trevor

The framing is quite good I think, sometimes being offset from the centre is just fine.
You have a good range of star colour, however the processing has buggered them up a bit :-)

Well done.

Welcome :hi:

Perhaps 120 seconds is too long for the ZWO camera on such a bright object, and the centres of the stars have burned out.

Have a look at the raw stack, before any stretch or curves. If the centres of the stars are already white, then the exposure is too long. If the centres are not white, then process again, but without clipping the brights to white.

Best,
MnT

Not a ZWO camera but QHY, probably more the gain/offset settings that caused excessive central whiteness, as very little in the way of curves have been applied post processing in PS

:thanx:

It could be too much gain causing the stars to blow out or perhaps your offset is too high and you are clipping the whites.

I had an ASI183mm Pro and it did not burn out the stars even with 5 minute exposures.

The stars after stacking post processing tended to be more greenish :)
