M42

I've recently switched to using Voyager for automation and this has allowed me to have unattended all night image capture so over 10 nights I've accumulated almost 9 hours of M42 this year. This one is LRGB with the QSI683 and SN10. Quite tricky to process given the dynamic range but I'm quite pleased with how this one worked out.

Hi Peter,
nice data.
Looks like you didn't apply flats as the top right hand corner
is incredibly dark - almost clipped black.
The free Program that I use called Fitswork4

has a feature called :
processing,

background flatten,
automatic flatten for nebulas.


which would fix it in a jiffy and bring out the fainter detail
in all the darker areas.

Thanks Allan. I did use flats however there was some camera rotation as I was playing with Voyager so perhaps it hasn't corrected properly. I'll take a look at the option you have suggested.

Good data there Peter. However if you use HDRmultiscaleTransform (in Pixinsight) with 6 or 7 layers it really pops out amazingly well.
