Hi all,
Here's an image I recently did of the Centaurus A galaxy (NGC 5128).
It wasn't the best of weather conditions though I was quite excited to see the the bluish coloured features of the galaxy - nebula? Well apparently not according to [tornado33] they are starburst regions. Wow that's pretty kewl to see in this image!!!
There's a higher resolution version of this image at
http://www.skylab.com.au/pmsa/ngc5128b.html
The image was a 46 min autoguided exposure (23 x 2min subs) using my 12" GSO scope, you can see the rest of the imaging equipment details at the above link.

Gee the starburst area at the top is really well defined. The yellowing in the core shows up great too.

Thanks mate and for all your other comments on my images too.
Patience my friend it takes time..... (a long time ago in a distant galaxy) I too set my sights on being "that good". It has been a long road since that time and I still don't see roads end. Good luck!
cheers

Yes very nice work Paul!
The colours are excellent
The guiding is looking very good too, why did you do only 2min subs?
BTW congratulations on the latest issue of Sky & Space & Mayo :)

Thanks Mike,
It was an evening of gusty winds which kept blowing around the 'scope enough to loose the guidestar! Shouldn't have been out there really.
The wind gusts only seemed to occur every couple of minutes (kinda). So rather than go home with no images:doh: I thought I'd do some shorter 2min subs and maybe get at least some good sub-frames in between gusts of wind.
Cheers mate

Good image Paul. I notice you use a MPCC and a 300D camera .... do you connect the camera to the MPCC just via T adapter or do you have any spacer etc to achieve focus. I recently bought a MPCC and haven't been able to focus my 350D with it.
Cheers !

I did have a focus problem associated with the focus point falling too short of the camera focus plane even without the MPCC. I moved the primary mirror closer to the secondary to solve this problem and included the distance that the MPCC and T-ring shifted focus at the same time. Also of interest, at the time of purchasing my t-ring there were two versions available of which I selected the "low-profile" version of the t-ring.
Are you finding that you can't get enough in-focus or out-focus ?
Maybe this is a bit off-subject, should we be in another thread?

I've only tried it once and it wouldn't achieve focus in or out so I'll have another look soon and get back to you via private message maybe ok !
Cheers.
