Hi all,
This could be a dumb question. My apologies if it is.
I have a Meade standard field tripod with an eq wedge. I also have an LX200 12" classic scope with fork mount (without a tripod). My question is, can the standard field tripod manage the weight of the 12" OTA on fork mount? I think more than the weight, I am more concerned about the length of the fork+OTA vs spread of the tripod legs. Can you guys advise if at all it is a sane idea to try?
Thanks.

From a weight handling perspective, I believe the standard tripod is limited to the 10" LX200.

Rajesh,
Over the years I’ve had and used every size of the Meade SCT.
The standard tripod is OK for the 8” but marginal for the large sizes.
I used a HD tripod (and rebuilt wedge!) for the 12” but had to Cut it down by 200mm to get best stability.
Hope this helps.

Here's the 12" on the cut down HD tripod.
