While taking a shot of M100 I also managed to get NGC 4312 in the same frame, however while comparing my photo on the left to one of M100 + NGC 4312 I noticed the triangle of stars is completely different in the two shots. Anyone else imaged this area recently? and the bottom star? in the triangle definately has shifted position.
No artefacts in the three images I stacked

Lovely shots Allan. :cool2:
What dates did you take the shots?

Have gone further into my bank of 5min shots and now realise that on one of them is a gamma ray hit (?) in that position. Didn't realise that I had included it in the stack. Strike one for an artefact. All others that I shot were identical to that on the right in that area.
No fool like an old one.
Shots taken March 16th

I had a look through Starry Night Allan and there is a star in that position. Can't tell you why it's moved though
I've labelled the magnitude on the attached SN screen dump so you can try to work out if it's the same one.
