Hi there,
I tried to use PHD2 to do a polar alignment on my balcony, but I notice that I need to point my telescope close to the celestial pole which is not possible on my balcony.. my balcony is facing to the west.
I am using HEQ5 goto and I have a guiding camera.
Do you guys have any software suggestions or any other tips for polar alignment on a limited vision area?
Thanks a lot!

Polar Align Pro app on iOs will do it.

Hi Jialuo
I have a similar problem with my EQ6 R pro. My approach is to use Polar Scope Align Pro on iOs on my phone to get me close. Then I use the Synscan hand controller under the setup/alignment menu to do a 2 or 3 star align. Once I have done this the Synscan controller gives me the option to do a polar align (still under the Setup/Alignment tree). I then choose one star from the options presented on the hand controller to do the polar alignment (lately I have been using Sirius). The Synscan controller slews the mount slightly and asks me to recentre the star using the altitude bolts and then does the same for azimuth bolts. This is set out on page 36 of the Synscan manual. Having done this once I mark the position of my tripod legs on the ground so I don't have to start from scratch every time. Hope this helps.

I’ve been using the Synscan polar alignment routine for 4 years with no view of the SCP and it works well , PA done in 10 minutes
