At this time of the year there's not a lot to choose from when imaging from my backyard. I get the Tarantula and M42 and that's about it, at least with a short FL refractor. Lockdown should end/reduce to a decent level today so traveling to somewhere with a decent field of view will be on the cards.

This is a stack of 50 x180s images with no calibrations at all (they'll get done later). Surprisingly I can't get near the detail out of this that I could from the single 10 minute exposure I took as an experiment, but no doubt calibration frames, and more light frames will help with that later down the track.

I'll set up for another set of 50 tonight and add it to the pool.

great start to the season! This target is more challenging than you expect! So much dynamic range. you got a lot of data to build on there

Looking great, Jeff.

Can you paste the 10min single sub here when you get a chance? Were you using a different gain/iso there?

thanks guys. I had a boat load of fail last night trying to get more data. I have to wait until about 0200 for M42 to clear the house and I have commitments today that required me to be up at a decent time. APT has a basic automation which I thought I had worked out. I got up at 0400 to check on it and there was a pop up box asking to press OK ... and there was a light mist making guiding dicey at best... I turned it all off and will wait for another day.

Here's the single 10 minute image.
