Finally got around to learning how to use GIMP. Made a pic with all the planets together. All taken with the Canon 60D DSLR, except for Mars. Mars was with the ASI462mc.

Very nicely done montage of all the major planets, excellent work you are doing with them this season.

Very nice work, a good summary of the year's output. I can't wait to see what you come up with next season on the larger planets using the 462 :)

That’s a fine achievement Quopaz! I like how the scale is represented against each planet and the variance between them all- they all have something very interesting to study and reinforces why I love the solar system and our place in it.
May I ask why Mars was difficult with the 60D- I had the same issue with mine on Mars and resorted to using my guide camera for imaging this planet. Has yours been modified? I found Mars to be over saturated when using the 60D. May just be too bright perhaps particularly with the 10”mirror. What’s your thoughts I’d be interested to hear your take.
Anyhow, well done on your collection- should be pleased with this.

Cheers,
Anth

Thanks, Anth I took plenty of Mars pics with the 60D (unmodified), it's just that when I changed to the 462 I noticed a massive improvement in detail over what I was able to get with the Canon. The brightness I could handle by turning down the ISO to 200 with shutter speed on 60. I think maybe the frames per second has a lot to do with it. The Canon topped out at 60fps and the 462mc is getting around 250fps.

Thanks Nick, that makes sense. I've found the same with the guide cam I'm using - heaps more detail and the canon is a little top heavy for planetary too.
