6th Nov. New AR 2781 came into view on the Sun's SE side. This single exposure image was taken thru a Canon 550d camera on a Lunt 100 Ha scope (SS). Taken thru light cloud and a rough atmosphere (lot of wind).

I had to wait a few hours to catch a reasonable patch of sky. AR 2780 also appears in the upper right of the image. Thanks for viewing.

John,
Under the conditions you did well!
AR2781 certainly looks very impressive - hopefully a good omen of what's to come.

Update 4pm, Nov 6th on AR 2781. Copy of report on SpaceWeather.com.
So far, the strongest solar flare from AR2781 has been a C7-class (https://spaceweather.com/glossary/flareclasses.html) explosion at 0022 UT on Nov. 5th. X-rays and UV radiation from the flare ionized the top of Earth's atmosphere, causing a brief low-frequency radio blackout over the Pacific Ocean and Australia.
Mariners and ham radio operators in the region might have noticed signals fading, especially at frequencies below 10 MHz.
More C-class flares are almost guaranteed in the hours ahead, with a slight change of even stronger M-class (https://spaceweather.com/glossary/flareclasses.html) flares.

Nice image from your DSLR John.
It's good to see you were able to record the Sun
in rare patch of blue.
