NGC 104 - 47 Tucanae

NGC 104 - 47 Tucanae. Taken from the 24th to 31st of October so very close to full moon. This was a test to see how much was lost to the "brighter sky". Thankfully this target allowed the telescope to face "away" from the moon. I used an Esprit 120ED, OSC, no filters. Now to try it again when there is no moon to see the difference.

That really is a wonderful NGC104. Tight fine pinpoints for stars and terrific resolution.

Yes the stars are pinpoint and yes the core is well resolved- but what appeals to me the most is the framing. :)

Sooooo refreshing to see 47 tuc not just plonked in the middle of the frame with no thought for it's surroundings.
The inclusion of NGC 121 is an excellent choice to partner and show the sheer majesty & scale of 47 Tuc and the rule of thirds has been applied very successfully!

Very impressive result.

The bigger CMOS sensors are going to raise the imaging bar IMHO.

And I agree with Andy - I like the framing of the shot, helps put the object in context.

Without a single doubt , this is one of the best captured and processed images of 47 Tuc that I’ve seen in my limited 4 years of astronomy
It does total justice to this famous southern gem and its little brother next door

Thanks David. I used the ZWO 2600 MC for this. I have no experience with other sensors previous to this one, but I think it does a great job.

Thanks Zubenel, Not sure it's a great idea with OSC and full moon, but this target is very bright and was a long way from the moon so it helped a lot.
