Corona Australis

RGB filters on, I'm determined to get better at it.
Feels like this is a bit of a tough one to process. Cluster, bright nebulosity, dark nebulosity, dust and a really nice spectrum of star colours.

First effort is 10 x 120s each RGB, unity gain on zwo 1600mmpro, -15c. Took lum and ha, have it up my sleeve for future processing fun.
I'd be keen to try masking areas here and bumping nebulosity, and doing something ti distinguish background vs dust, though there is just heaps of it here. Here is a slightly wider version on astrobin, which shows a pretty nasty gradient on the left https://www.astrobin.com/full/91444c/0/

very nice jp - i would be collecting more in the Luminance channel. you'll find that the RGB data in an LRGB doesn't actually have to be as good, the Luminance is where it is at. Not really worth getting Ha as it is a reflection nebula rather than emission (although there is one small section of Ha but i would probably spend the time on L capture).

but it is looking really nice, the dark dust will pop out with more data.

For luminance, would it be a common tactic to pull down the length of sub vs the RGB subs? I have the same duration subs and they seem pretty unusable because theyre so bright, the stars in particular are bloated badly.

That first effort of an hour is currently being supplemented by another 3.5 hours from last night, so hopefully I can do something with it to bring out some more detail.

Here is an update, now with 80-90 mins per channel. I think the dust has come up a bit. I'm wary of slaughtering the cluster while bringing the brightness
