I really enjoyed getting this image...
...as at a FL of 530mm guiding becomes a trivial task.

No mucking about...just straight RGB. 35:25:35 mins.

Using a wide-field scope with good seeing gave me fond memories of visual observing through a fine wide field eyepiece.

The result is here (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery503.html)

Don’t often seen NGC 104 & NGC 121 in the same view... plus another smaller one further out! Nicely captured

Thanks Gentlemen,

It's been quite a while since I last used the FSQ...hence it was nice to get my head around making it all work again.

There is some slight tilt at the focal plane  ...but Gerd Neumann's CTU is en-route as I write. ;)

This is also a test run with the capture being totally automated with an even wider field in mind.

My QHY600m should arrive later this week.

My apologies in advance for the inclement weather that will surely follow :)

Tinkered with Pixinsight a bit and have added one of my famous (or is that infamous :D  ) roll-over images..

But this shouldn't ruffle any precious feathers...as it's simply an annotated version which PI does brilliantly.

Same URL (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery503.html). Enjoy the Miyagi styled "mouse-on" "mouse-off"

Tilt is pretty minor - can you post a fancy pic of the corners to make it easier to see??

Sure, but have you replied to the relevant post? ;)

Sorry - I'm hopeless at cryptic crosswords...

For some reason I thought you were commenting Dave's NGC104. Hence apologies...just me being obtuse.

You can gander at a close-up with the attached.

Thanks for this post Peter, very informative..
Agreed, reminds me very much of eyeballing it under a dark sky years ago in wide-field eyepieces.
Also, i didn't know about GN's CTU until now, so thanks for that tip, i have the same tilt issues in my system too...must investigate more.

Thanks Peter,

Much easier to see the problem in that presentation. I also get your reference to Dave's image - he's got different tilt problems to deal with.

After seeing the tilt you've got to content with, I'm glad I've made the right choice and gone for a CTU straigth up with the QHY600M on my AP - just need the adapters...
