Hi all,

I managed to capture a few hours on the Tarantula nebula NGC2070 19/09 in my run of clear nights.
38 x 300s lights
30 x darks
30 x flats
25 x dark flats
gain 100
offset 50
-10

captured in NINA

Processed in APP and photoshop.

I feel i might have the colours not right but i like the brightness.

Thanks for looking and appreciate comments.

Nice work Jack. It’s amazing how different interpretations of the data can make the same object look so different.

Yeah, I agree with Ryan, its nice to see different takes!

I really like how the nebulosity looks as though its sitting on top of the incredibly rich star field here, a real depth to it. Well done.

Just had a brainwave, we need you to get onto Willie Smith's and organise a dark sky party there as part of the mid-winter fest... far out that'd be good!

(I'm not kidding, this should really happen)

A great capture Jack.

If you do a search on Astrobin, and refine to Apochromatic, you will find that your image is as good if not better than most.

To improve, add another 3 hours!

Experiment with differing sub length and gain settings to 'get a feel' for what works on the night.

I always say this, pay careful attention to the focus. Even a EAF requires human intervention at times.

Well done.

Thanks Peter, JP, Ryan.

You're right the vast difference between images for the same target is incredible. I looked at Astrobin to see what i was aiming for with processing. Anything goes with the Tarantula and they all look great.

JP, not convinced for the willie smiths star party. I have been to 2 of those, always cold wet muddy fields full of cider drinkers with everything on fire. Chance of a clear night that time of year is not likely.

thanks all

Jack
