An interesting comparison is the Helix with an hour each of Ha and Oiii with
35 min of RGB added and Helix HOO HOO . Very close to the half moon.

A lot more of the fine inner structure with HOO only and a lot more of the red nebulosity with added RGB. More Ha Oiii would be good when the moon buggers off. The galaxies were a complete disaster in HO under the moon.

A great change to get closer at 1000mm and little faster at f5 for these small objects.

Ray,
Very nice Helix under moon glare and well processed

Yeh forget imaging galaxies under moonlight , filters make it worse , you lose colour and detail
Galaxies are for the dark with plenty of good long data
Clouded out further south near Ulladulla
Just snapped about an hour on 47 Tuc before clouds rolled in 15mins ago
Nights done !

Thanks Martin. Saturday was a beautiful night moon and all. Shame the clouds caught you. I really need to go back to dithering the next lot to remove that fpn now I can see the Helix come up well on the newt.

Maybe some good craggy moon shots meanwhile.

Looking good Ray, nice and big. A bit of dithering will smooth it out nicely.

Thanks . Dithering means using other software for me , kstars ecos or Nebulosity scripting which is just a little added time setting up and in taking flats but necessary with these filters.

Not sure why the image post does not allow the zoom out feature.
