Can someone from QLD recommend an Astronomy Shop in or around Brisbane that sells 'Cheshire' collimating EP's at a reasonable price.

Cheryl is up there until Saturday and she will get me one while she is there if the price is right, or should I order from Sydney and wait for it to post down?

Thanks

Have you checked out the price difference for it between Sydney and Brisbane.
For a small item it may not be worth it but for more expensive items well and truly look down south.
Iwon't use names but about the cheapest in SE QLD is on the Gold Coast but still not as cheap as the Mexicans.
I walked into one of the nameless Brissy shops and played like a newby and had a hard time trying to control the fits of laughter on the prices on things such as eyepieces and scopes I had just acquired from south of the border. 40-80% mark ups.
Now if I was a regular may be I might get a better price but it's hard tobecome a regular with prices like this.

Buyer beware use the web to it's full advantage

I agree with Mark...better of getting your equipment from down south......

The only one I would recommend would be Star Optics on the Gold Coast.....the rest want to retire early...dont bother.

Thanks Mark and Tony. I will order from Andrews.

I will also be ordering a 2" 2X barlow. Will this work well with my 2" GS 30mm SuperView EP in my 12" f5 Dobby.

Can't comment on the 30mm directly but my 40mm work well enough in a friends 12" f5 Dob.
The GSO 2x barlow will turn the 30mm into a nice 15mm and 20mm eyepiece.
Remember these are not as sharp as a Televue but remember how much you have paid for them.

I agree. the prices here in Brissie are nothing short of ridiculous! I get most of my astro stuff either from Bintel or Andrew's via good old oz post (when I am not shopping on Astromart ;)

Actually, I have found the prices at one outlet in the southern suburbs to be reasonable on most items, especially the chinese telescopes. I am surprised it is not what others have experienced.

Hi Argonavis,

You remember the name of this shop? Was it Sirius Optics in Underwood? Among all the shops I have visited, their prices seems the best in this region.

Hay guys it might be the best prices in Brisbane but when you have only 2 shops and the other is well and truely over priced there is not much competition.
Have you compared the prices to south of the border.
Have a look for example .
If you want an EQ6 mount.
$1995 in Brisbane $1300-$1400 in Sydney.
The SSEQ6 used to be on the Brisbane web site at over $3000 (no longer there, wonder why) down south $2400.
A Sky watcher 150eq5 refractor up here $2395 down south $1499.
These are just a few examples guys do your own comparisons.

The other shop in brisbane tried to sell me a second hand Nagler earlier series for about 10% more than a new one new series from south and my Celestron ED 80 for about 80% more than what I got it and they said they had the first ones in OZ.
Funny that got mine 5 months before theres!

I won't mention laser pointer---oops i just mentioned them.

I haven't bought any thing from the Brisbane shops as it has been always cheaper to either get it from down below or import it and I only import if it is a large enough saving .
