View Full Version here: : NGC1232 - Eye of God
Maybe God wears glasses.
For the first time, i tried longer subs at 300s (previous longest time was 180s).
All that seemed to happen was more noise.
Capture details:
60 of 300s subs. (5 hours).
Thanks for looking!

haha! What gain are you using on the 1600, Peter?
Hi JP
Gain was set at 140 (unity).

Fantastic effort there to take on such a dim little object but with a 150mm aperture and 1050mm focal length scope this Galaxy is a challenging object to image when you also factor in atmospheric conditions
At magnitude 11 brightness and angular size of 7 x 4 arc minutes it’s an object more suited for the bigger scopes with longer focal lengths to achieve better resolution and detail
I wouldn’t even attempt it with my 8” f5 unless seeing was pristine
Good on you for having a go
Well done !!!
Thanks Martin.
My 12" reflector has moved into the loading bay (front of the garage). Just waiting for another gadget and it's ready for testing.
With the EQ8, it could work!

I’m assuming that’s a 12” f4 astrograph carbon fibre truss newt or similar ???
If so it’s definitely a Galaxy hunter !!!

Nope, hand built (modified lightbridge).
f/l 1520mm, ap: 304mm, f/5
With a 2xbarlow it becomes:
f/l 3040, f/10
And image resolution of 0.26 arcsec/pixel
Bit scary really, might have to lose the barlow...
