M22

Last Monday was clear so I did a quick take on M22 as it begins it's journey toward the city glow of Melbourne. So many stars in this field which diminishes the impact on this globular but it still stands out as the highlight amongst them.

40 x 60 secs @800 iso modded Canon 550d with UVIR cut filter unguided from Bortle 6 skies using a SW Esprit 100.

It is a busy star field Michael but does support the globular very well.

Maybe you could superimpose your NGC6124 over the background of my M22, then you'd achieve the effect you were after. :lol: Love the colours in your shot Rodney, star clusters have a beauty within themselves but are often overlooked as interesting objects to target.

I agree with Rod, Michael, the dense star field really makes the scene when imaging M22 :thumbsup:

A lot of the time when shooting globulars they appear as islands in the sky as they're out in the middle of no where. M22 and a few select others break the mould and have a large smattering of stars around them.

Thanks for the compliments guys, the .jpg posted here doesn't do justice to the 50mb .tif file I have of it on my hard drive but I guess that's just the nature of the compression. Mind you, some posted here don't seem to break up as much as mine. :question:
