Rogelios new book Mastering Pixinsight is now out. I have received an early copy (or would have been an early on but for the mail!!), looking forward to having a good read and learn.

Hi Bart

I Just picked mine up as well. I have been using the soft copy recently and found it useful.

The hard copy is paperback and it’s split into a hefty Manual incorporating workflows with some good explanations and a really useful reference guide that you use in conjunction with the manual.

I reckon Rogelio had an eye out for resale as it comes in a presentation sleeve. Keep it safe!

The reference guide is pretty comprehensive suggesting when to use a process or script and what the parameters cover

The book itself is well written and the author does a good job of explaining why you use a process as well as what else you could use and when you might make those choices.

A bit expensive but will be well used in my case so will be worth it

I ordered it as well.

PI is a good program but has a steep learning curve and different way of doing things.

I have been using it in small doses and wouldn't mind using it more.

APP is another program I am interested in learning.

Photoshop's monthly fee is a pain and it has not really advanced anything useful for astro for some time. Its panorama stitching tool is not as advanced as the free Microsoft ICE and noise reduction, sharpening tools are all out of date.

Hi Greg, you reminded me I really should cancel my subscription as well. I am down to using it to just to resize images as I still have not figured out how to do that in PI For posting here...

GIMP (https://www.gimp.org/) (on Linux, Mac or Windows) can do re-sizing for you for free, with several algorithms available. It can do a whole lot more, too.

Hope that helps :)

I bought the book with the link and its been 2 weeks and no link has been sent, no receipt or any communication. I've sent a nudge and hopefully all is well with Rogelio.

Its odd these days to pay for a book and link and not get it immediately on payment. All other software I have bought works that way.

Anyway I thought I would let others know in case this is a bugged site.

Greg.

Hi Greg

That sounds odd, when compared to my recent experience.:confused2:

I received the e-mail notification with instructions and download links within 24-36 hours.:)

Cheers

Dennis

Rogelio sent me an email saying the link was sent shortly after I paid so perhaps this is an overactive spam filter.

No mention if the hard book has been mailed yet.

Its being sorted out.

Rogelio made sure I got the download links and the book is being sent in the next shipment to Oz.

Anyone with the RBA book, can you please compare it with Chris Foster's PixInsight Processing Workflow? It's a free Word/PDF download :-

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zRCRtV-_71Ipd5dxVMp4gwA9zIs4FUnw

It's aesthetically messy however to me the tutorials there are more advanced and tailored than the usual LightVortexAstronomy or Warren Keller's book. I'm wondering if RBA's is more traditional like LightVortex/Warren's, or if it's going to be more advanced like Chris Foster's.

I haven't bought RBA's therefore I don't know what the content is like and hoping someone can compare it to Chris'.

I purchased the digital copy of the book on Sunday and havn't recieved any links since.

I contacted him 2 days ago as well with no response yet.

Should I be worried? Thinking of lodging a refund with PayPal.

No, he’s well known in Astroimaging and I have emailed with him a couple of times during his journey to self-publish with no problems.

Am sure he will respond at some point.

Mhm ok. Ordering a digital book should be automated.

It has been a week now and sent him another email.
