3 years ago, when our youngest daughter passed away, we were given a small pot which we were told contained orchids.
Until this year no blooms, they just got bigger with lots of stalks and leaves.
This year they have amazed us, absolutely beautiful, and they seem to last for ever.

Beautiful orchids and aren’t they a great surprise. ? You must be doing something right. I can’t imagine what it is like losing your children although it has come close.
I have a lime tree that was my mother’s for many years and in a pot . She is not around any more, I planted it and now it produces hundreds of limes a year and has blossom , ripe limes and new limes all at the same time. Thanks mum.

Yes, beautiful. We were given one that sat on the kitchen bench for about
nine months, and then suddenly bloomed for about eight or nine weeks.

Sorry to hear of your loss Chris, would have been a very difficult time, I am happy for your orchids to have finaly flowered considering, a nice and touching moment I'm sure !
The flowers are simply stunning, great photos, well showed..
Most orchids and/or bulbs will only flower the 2nd year after being planted, sometimes the 3rd yr depending on timing and seasonal rains.
Good stuff
