Caught this before the moon rose last night. Testing out my SW 150/750mm f5 Newtonian. A combination of UVIR and Multiband filters, 53mins made up of 40 secs and 90 secs 800iso subs unguided on a HEQ5 pro mount with a modded Canon 550d. Bortle 6 skies.
Had issues with the crayford dual speed focuser changing focus when tightening the focus locking screw. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi Mick, the 150 Newt shows great potential imo & a remarkable image given the lack of guiding. With regards to your focuser issue, I had a similar experience with a GSO crayford on my C8
& found that adjustment of the guide bearings on the top played a critical role in offsetting the focus lock thumbscrew on the bottom. The end result was less pressure was needed when applying the focus lock,
I also replaced the metal thumbscrew with a plastic one which seemed to add a degree of finesse as well. Most of these Chinese crayfords require some tweaking it seems.
Hope this info was of some use.
Cheers,
Tony
