I left my kit out "parked" last night after when I turned in, thinking that I'd be up helping kids with toilet/nightmares/thirst/etc and that I might be able to go out and get a bit of action from Orion. It worked as planned, I was up at 3:15, headed out, slewed over to the horsehead (had to run another calibration, unfortunately) but was back in bed in about 30mins and had this result.

23 x 300s in Ha (gain 139). Guiding was not unreal, but I guess good enough. This is the first image I've rescaled in GIMP to get it to size for upload here, will be intereting to see if it does any better than the "image size" app I usually use on my phone. (edit: ouch, the resize is a bit nasty!)

This really underlined my need for a rotator, this was exactly perpendicular to the long axis of my sensor, and I wish I had more of the flame... but hey! Its a picture and I didn't lose too much sleep over it :)

That’s a beauty JP. Well done. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons :) I’m looking forward to doing this one again in a few months.

Cheers, Ryan!

Yeah, I am really stoked on getting some time on a few different targets in Orion... These are the objects that were setting early when I started, and I've been thinking about them coming back and having a go with new skills and gear. Starting to get a feeling of astro seasons :)
