Im looking forward to a break.:)
Hi
I am coming up to Bretti for the second time. Last time just as the bush fires started. Not good....
At what time do you expect to arrive so I know where to look for someone.

My LX200 GPS Scope is finally working properly after my Son Benjamin helped me sort out an issue with communications between scope and PC. It needed an update in the software as there was a GPS problem after its repair by SKYWATCHER AUSTRALIA.
All looks good now and ready to continue "grinding coffee" as some have mentioned before....
:D
Hi Geoff
I am now going up on the 15th now.
Do you camp and set up under the trees or out in the middle just so I have an idea

Chris, speaking historically, the usual spot was down the back (the eastern boundary), just inside the back fence, between the junction of the two small rivers on the left (and the picnic table) and the farmers gate on the right. This provides a grassed area, clear overhead views, is not usually favoured by caravaners who seek shade under the trees, and has minimal through traffic as its past the end of the track. I have attached a few photos which I took at one of the past trips. You can clearly see Geoff's red van in the first photo, with Al wandering arounding in the hat.
Note I am assuming that is still the favoured spot. Geoff will advise.
Wish I could go.
Thanks Glen
Hope the weather improves...At this stage I will going even if is to just have a break

This nasty Ear ache of mine better go quickly, its giving me some curry at present.
If it gets too bad, I may have to pull out. I hope not though.

All packed except for the food and a few gizmo's that will go in the morning.
Ear ache is still persisting, but i will still make an effort.
Got some new toys to play with too.

New toys eh? Would there be a drone in that bag? I seem to recall a radio controlled car running around once.
Hope the cows are secured on the other side of the river. Maybe take a shovel, just in case. I recall Al using his Whipper Snipper to make his vestibule area nice and lawn like.

Hey everyone.
How's the weather up there at Bretti Reserve? I'm considering coming up for the night in my van and doing some star gazing. No moon = bonus!
I'm looking into upgrading my current beginner telescope, and would be great to have a chat to some like minded people and gain some experience.
From Newcastle, so Bretti isn't too far from me.
Who do I look out for?
I own a grey Ford Transit Custom van
Cheers!

Matty There is no internet or mobile phone coverage at Bretti, or at least that has been the situation on past trips, so I doubt they will see your post unless someone drives into Gloucester to go to the shops and checks then.
As far as what to look out for, read the posts below which discuss the camping location. Basically go down the back of the Reserve, you will see the scopes. Good luck.
PS, for weather forecast check the Bureau Gloucester forecast.

Well I had a great restful time away with everyone even if the sky didn't play the game every night.
The River was refreshing to swim in everyday, the days were very warm too.
Nights were cool but a glass or two of Port and the fire warmed the inner soul.
Viewing was OK on Thursday night and only the Sunday night was clear after that, and only after about 10pm or so. Sunday night was just Bino viewing for me as the scope was tucked away ready for Departure the next morning.
A lot of other Campers were there this time setting up for what I am told was to be a Caravan club get together with about 10 vans on site , and approx. 40 to arrive this week. :eyepop:
They seemed to make a lot of noise with lawn mowers and brush cutters and vehicle movements as well.
This detracted from the serenity of the place itself, which is what we seek when camping.
All in all, a fun time away with long standing mates and a few newcomers.
I cant wait to see some of Matt's photos that were amazing from Thursday night.
And great to meet Tony and Lucas too....

Thanks for those photos Owl (G). Nice to see the place has not changed. Good to see your still using the Van, with constant improvements no doubt. I recognise Jakob's motor home as well, hope he is well.
I see by Jakob's location into that he is listing Port Mac as his new place.
