Have a Celestron 8" SCT on the way but it has the CGM mount bar.

My mount is the Evolution mount that came with my 6. I've been trying to source a CG5 bar but everyone is out of stock (incl Tasco/Celestron) except Sirius who want $89 (listed as $35 on Celestron site).

So I thought I might make my own. I'll need a extruded aluminium bar cut to length and drilled. First problem is sourcing 5cm dovetail extrusion.

Has anyone done this? Where did you source your stock from?

You probably want a longer one to fix at front and back and the correct holes or radius blocks for the C8. Mine is about 350mm long .

A piece of solid aluminium 400 long 20mm thick will set you back a few dollars but it could be done.

$89:is probably the going price unless you can get a second hand one. I have both a Losmandy and an Orion and they are both solid.
