:hi: To set up a fixed pier without dismantling my tripod, I need another base plate for a Meade LXD 75. Any offers?
Thanks
Leo

If you mean the partof the tripod that attaches the legs and takes the base of the EQ mount, then most chinese EQ mounts of that size are probably the same? Could you post a pic of your base plate .

Yes, I do mean that part of the tripod.
At the next nearby star party, I will look for anything similar.
But, for example and by way of contrast, the LX90 attaches to a flat surface.
As for the LXD 75, a flat plate is needed with a fixed peg to be aligned with South, but also a circular recess 6cm diameter and 2 cm deep with central bolt hole (11mm) to receive the LXD EQ mount.
If this wasn't a snug fit, the EQ mount would wobble.
It might be easier to get something tailor-made at a metal shop!

Thanks.
That looks to be a very elegant solution, but that observatory set-up in Canada must be chilly!
The mounting plate provided by Southern Cross Piers suits my steel mount quite well, so I will stay with this solution. This home built pier, like the Canadian option, allows direct access to the fixing bolt so that the pier stays put, only the GE mount is stowed away.

For those who need a lovely looking, and yet well designed observatory shed, may I recommend the home size Sirius from Clontarf north of Brisbane. Delivered and installed last Thursday.....beautiful.
