I was uploading this when I saw Paul's. Sigh. Anyway, it's nothing new, just the old data I have on Corona Australis reprocessed using a bunch of new OSC processing tricks I learned. Unfortunately, the Photoshop version (I do final colour tweaks in PS still) and the web version (even though colour profiled for web) are quite different - in PS it seems far less green/brown. Ah well.


Maybe if Canberra would stop having rain, snow and generally gad awful weather I might be actually able to use the gear instead of reprocessing old sh...stuff. :lol:

Nice Lewis. I like the star colours, but their shape is “diamond-like”? Thought you may have been using a VMC or something and realised it was an FSQ. What could it be?

Well Lewis, at least you don't have diffraction spikes in yours. Although refractor star bloat is hardly a natural feature either, ouch. They are both nice images. We all suffer when compared to Paul H's work. As a politician recently said " It is what it is".

SBIG ST8300C bayer matrix micro lensing - well known side effect of the 8300 OSC's.


Plus manual focussing and minimal total data doesn't help, especially since it wasn't dithered,which exacerbates the slightly destructive processing routines on low total data sets

Considering I couldn’t find any of the calibration sets for this one (I switched to SX cams shortly after this one from 2017), I think it came out ok-ish. Too much going on top left that I couldn’t calibrate our without flats. Ah well - was just meeting recency requirements (Peter knows what I mean)

Nothing wrong with yours Lewis. It might need a bit more data to remove some of the speckle but it has attributes mine doesn't. Yours is a wider view than mine and I like your composition better. Yes timing can sometimes be a problem, but you cannot help that.

Lookin' good Lewis, the repro is an improvement. It does look a bit green/brown as you say; sounds like you've got some colour profile issues to work out there. Maybe you just need to convert it to sRGB when saving for the web?
