Hi
Used the 6 inch f3.6 schmidt newtonian "Cometracker" to capture this in the LMC tonight.
6x10 mins ISO200, UHCS filter, Hutech modded 350D. Hand guided. Processed in IRIS and photoshop. The ground on which the mount sits moves overtime with rain and dry, so polar alingment was off, field rotation was evident on a simple stack, so I used Iris's "3 matching zone (affine transformation) where it picks stars in 3 separate 300x300 pixel zones at edges of images and aligns them, rotating if necessary, thus eliminating field rotation.

Hello Scott,

That's a pretty kewl image. Not many people image this area of the LMC with such resolution and details that your image shows. Well done! Oh and yes I can see the sign of Shrek too!

regards

Many thanks.
Perhaps the nebula should be given the official Common Name of the 'Shrek Nebula" :)
Id like to add this is the first real low coma image Ive taken with the cheap n nasty Cometracker. It seems even with the MPCC, the field is slightly curved, as if I aim for pinpoint stars in the middle and get focus slightly inside of perfect, stars on the outside are out of focus and s little comatic. If I get it almost spot on but ever so slightly outside focus, stars at the edge are much better. Not quite as corrected as an ASA scope, but I doubt Meade ever intended it to perform as well as it does with the MPCC installed.
