Days of Rain then high winds, trees come down

The NSW coast is being hammered by some pretty serious southerly winds, and after days of heavy rain this is a likely to bring down big trees. I recall Alan M''s adventure with a big fallen tree some years back. Every one take take and get your vehicles away from possible falling branches and uprooting trees. I have to go out and check the observatory roof locks and extra the downs.

It got pretty windy around 20:00 in Hoxton park as well. Lot of rattling in the dark in the neighbourghood. Will have to check the tiles on the roof this week-end. That was some of the strongest wind gusts I've seen around here in a long while.

This photo I took during Sundays rain. Idiots still crossing it in “shopping trolley” Hyundai’s and Toyota’s, despite the road closure signs and flashing red lights, so much so a few were barricaded.

WARRAGAMBA Dam is at 95% now which is what we needed. Previously it went to ~83% and was slowly down to 80% again. At least we get a good fill up to 100% hopefully.

Going by the figures it seems the dam levels have increased by 10% in the past few days, understandably.
It can stop raining now for a few months, please.

I live in a rural area - you forgot to add power outages!


While our tanks are full for the first time in ages (WooHoo) the last lot of rain squalls brought a couple of trees down and we were without power for several hours. Then the water got into the cabling somewhere and the landlines were out for about two days. And mobile reception where I live is not the best...


Still, some of the creeks are running again for the first time in a few years, and the farmers are happy.


The grey overcast stops the frost, but it's damned annoying for trying to watch the skies at night.
