Honing my very blunt PixInsight skills by fiddling with old data. These are trials only of various pre-determined scripts.

Here is a single 20 minute sub of M78 with an FSQ-85ED and an OSC CCD. I tried the newly released "EZ Denoise" from the EZ Processing Suite script and was simply amazed what it could do with default settings alone! I am not a fan of denoise algorithms but this one seems rather good!

A before and an after. Originals are TIFF, converted in PS to Web JPEG (100%) for Astrobin.

I imagine it will only be better on a fully integrated image, as I did notice some loss of detail in the dark cloud.

Big improvement. Thanks for the tip I just downloaded it and it did a great job on my Dolphin Nebula image.

I’m hoping it can at least tidy up my data lacking images - which are all of them!

It’s a refreshing change to take out most of the guess work / genius level understanding of terminology out of PI. The learning curve in PI is still excessive, though

Agree. Its a big step in the right direction. Simplification. Some programmers are better at making a user friendly interface than others.

This one is a single 5 minute OSC sub through a TSA-102 a few years ago. I also ran the star size reducer from EZ prior to denoise.

Eagerly waiting to do a big data grab (anything over 8 hours is big for me ) and see how it does. Currently trying to find my Corona Australis data to see if I can mitigate the noise in it (my best image to date IMHO)

Oh yeah that's good.
