Jupiter and Io 4 August 2020

Luckily last night I checked my collimation on my C14 and then waited for two cloud fronts to pass through, otherwise I would have missed some fairly decent seeing. This is just the first of a few runs that will be processed and likely combined in Winjupos to produce a sharper image (that means I will have to learn how to use WinJupos now).
In the image you can see Io just approaching Jupiter for transit. Some detail seen on the moon, the classic line going up and along the moon. Slightly elongated from the length of the filter runs. This is also what is known as the boring side of the planet but there is still plenty to see. The NEB looks very interesting with lots of disturbances and activity.

No such thing as the boring side, as you say, there is always plenty of dynamics in the cloud bands to follow in their changes, good capture of detail on Io too.

Very good, if you had zoomed out a bit and a little bit earlier Ganymede was there too- but moving the other way. I got both on the same video, yet to process it. There was a patch of really good seeing last night, from when the red spot was there and a couple hours after. Extremely cold though and a little bit windy. But it went bad by the time Io's shadow got there, got covered in clouds.
