can anybody tell me how many degrees magnetic north is from true north in the sydney region (and which side).

Well here in nambour magnetic south is almost 12 degrees west of true south. Don't know if there would be much difference between us.

Simon if your trying to find true south or north GrampianStars avatar will give you a clue??????????
You can use the shadow from a vertical pole at Solar Noon (not clock noon) to give you a precise reading of true south.
It 's éven more acuarate than using a compass and deviation readings.
But then it depends on what you need it for ---a quick polar align at night I would assume.
